What is Side?

Side is a cultural hub located on Newcastle's historic Quayside, home to the internationally recognised Side Gallery, Side Cinema, and the AmberSide collection - a UNESCO-registered photographic collection and archive documenting working-class life in the North East of England and beyond.

Founded in 1977, Side represents a dynamic intersection of art, activism, and community, dedicated to recording and preserving the experiences of working-class people around the world through artist-led humanist documentary photography and film.

Where do items ship from?

Across our site our products will be shipped from different dispatch locations within the UK. We make it clear on each product where they will be shipped from any details specific to postage and packaging from that location. 

Do you ship internationally?

Products are able to be shipped across the UK and internationally. Details on shipping for each product is listed at the bottom of each product page. 

How much is shipping and how long does it take?

How are items packaged?

Depending on the size of the item and delivery location packaging varies. Each item is packaged by a trained art handler and will be to industry standard measures. 

What should I do if my order hasn’t arrived?

Delivery times provided at checkout are estimates, and delays can occasionally happen — especially during busy periods or due to customs processing for international orders. If your order hasn’t arrived within two days after the end of the estimated delivery window, please contact us at side.gallery@amber-online.com  with your order number, and we’ll look into it for you.

What happens if my order arrives damaged?

If your order arrives damaged, please email us at side.gallery@amber-online.com with your order number and clear images of the damage. We’ll review the issue and get back to you as soon as possible to resolve it.

How do I request a return or an exchange?

To request a return, please email side.gallery@amber-online.com with your order details and reason for return. The subject line of your email should include: Your Name, Order Number, Return Request.

If you change your mind about a purchase after receiving your order, you may return the item at your own cost, provided it is unused and in a re-saleable condition.

Goods must be returned in their original packaging, securely sealed, and you must take reasonable care to ensure they are not damaged while in your possession or during return transit.

We will issue a refund within 30 days of receiving the returned item.

Please note: Custom-made pieces, items framed outside of our standard options, or works that are signed or otherwise personalised are not eligible for return.

Unfortunately we cannot accept exchanges from online orders.

Do you restock sold-out items or editions?

Many of our items are limited run and/or vintage publications and posters. These items will not be restocked after they are sold out.

Does buying a print support the artist or the gallery’s programme?
