Dean Chapman - Karenni
The Karenni have been waging a war of resistance for fifty years. Burmese forces invaded the Karenni State on August 9th, 1948, and eventually annexed the independent sovereign nation. For five decades the Karenni people have been resisting Burmese colonisation. Successive Rangoon Governments have attempted to pacify the population through military occupation, mass relocation of civilians and gross human right abuses. These have only served to make the Karenni desire for independence stronger.
