Portraits taken by Jedrejczyk's original prints from her  1981 exhibition at Side gallery. The Jungle was the local pub ( Le Continentale) situated opposite the North Shields ferry landing .

"The Jungle gains a  particular character due to being a port of call for foreign crews, sailors and shipyard workers, as well as the local habituees. .....Each sitter received a small print. Most had only seen instamatic or equivalent photographs and were curious to discover themselves in such detail. This did not please everyone. However I did not set out to flatter the sitters.
