Easington August 1984 (ref 74)
Exhibition poster from Keith Pattison’s ‘Easington August 1984’ collection shown at Side Gallery the same year. (A2 594mm x 420m)
Keith Pattison secured in 1984 funding from Artists’ Agency to do a month long photographic residency in Easington a colliery village in East of Durham. Keith documented the height of Miner’s Strike when Paul Wilkinson returned to work.
The images have become iconic and the capturing of a village experiencing a police siege has influenced many visualisations of the strike.
